Associate Veterinarian
William Langolf DVM

Dr. William “Rick” Langolf grew up in Port Huron, MI. He graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. After working two years elsewhere, Dr. Rick and his wife, Janet, moved to Croswell in June of 1979, where he worked with Drs. Harold and John Geiger at the Geiger Veterinary Clinic. There, his focus and greatest love was large animals, but also included small animal emergency medicine. After completing a two year certificate program with MSU in 1994, Dr. Rick was one of the first in the nation to earn a certificate in Dairy Health Management.  He was then asked to join MSU’s teaching staff as Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. Third and fourth year veterinary students from MSU as well as Texas A & M and Ohio State University did rotations with Dr. Rick as he cared for the 40+ dairy herds then in the Sanilac County area. In 2004, he was promoted to Adjunct Associate Professor. Dr. Rick was also well known for his expertise in bovine and equine theriogenology and wound healing. In the course of his career, Dr. Rick mentored many area students, six of whom went on to become veterinarians, including Dr. Joel Parraghi. Despite his “official” retirement in 2023, Dr. Rick continues to enjoy caring for small animals with Dr. Joel and the Croswell Veterinary Services staff on an occasional basis.

Dr. Rick and Janet have two adult children, Bill and Laura (James) Zeller, 2 precious grandsons and a yellow Labrador Retriever. The Langolfs spend most of their time at their cottage on Higgins Lake, where they enjoy many water and outdoor activities.
